The 1980 Yamaha RD250LC, here shown in white with 2 red stripes, marked a significant evolution in the RD series, bringing liquid cooling and monoshock rear suspension to the already beloved two-stroke platform. Powered by a 247cc liquid-cooled, two-stroke parallel-twin engine, the RD250LC produced around 35bhp, offering an exhilarating ride with a top speed of over 90mph. The introduction of liquid cooling allowed for better engine efficiency and reliability, making it a more refined machine compared to its air-cooled predecessors. The bike's handling was further improved by the addition of Yamaha's Monocross rear suspension, which provided better stability and cornering performance. The RD250LC's aggressive styling, with its sharp lines and iconic red and white color scheme made it an instant hit among young riders. The 1980 Yamaha RD250LC quickly became a cult classic, revered for its blend of performance, innovation, and unmistakable two-stroke character.
