[art #474]. Limited Edition Print by Steve Dunn.
The 1999 Yamaha R7 OW-02 is a rare and highly
coveted motorcycle that was designed for one purpose: to dominate in
World Superbike racing. Built as a homologation special, the R7 was
powered by a 749cc inline-four engine that in race trim could produce
well over 160bhp, allowing it to compete at the highest levels
of racing. The R7 featured Yamaha's most advanced technology including
a lightweight aluminum Deltabox frame, Öhlins suspension, and
top quality brakes, all of which contributed to its razor-sharp
handling and exceptional stability at high speeds. The bike's styling
was pure race-bred with a full fairing, aerodynamic bodywork, and a
minimalist, focused design that emphasized performance above all else.
Only 500 units of the R7 were produced making it one of the most
exclusive and sought-after sportbikes in Yamaha's history. The 1999
Yamaha R7 OW-02 remains a legend in the world of superbikes admired for
its engineering excellence, racing pedigree, and its status as one of
the most iconic machines of its era.
