[art #405]. Limited Edition Print by Steve Dunn.
The
John Player Norton famously designed and ridden by Peter Williams is a
motorcycle that has become legendary in the annals of racing history.
The bike was developed specifically for the Isle of Man TT F750 race and featured
a 750cc parallel-twin engine that was heavily modified to produce
competitive power. Peter Williams, an accomplished racer and engineer,
played a key role in the bike's development focusing on improving the
handling and aerodynamics. The JPN was known for its
distinctive full fairing designed to reduce frontal area, and which was
painted in the John Player No10 cigarettes
livery. The bike
was revolutionary in its use of cast magnesium wheels and advanced
suspension geometry which gave it superior handling on the demanding
Isle of Man TT course. Peter Williams' victory on this bike in the 1973
TT F750 race was a defining moment showcasing the brilliance of Norton's
engineering and Williams' exceptional skill. The John Player Norton
is a symbol of innovation, racing excellence, and the 1970s a golden era
of motorcycle racing.
