[art #908]. Limited Edition Print by Steve Dunn.
Few riders have a bond with the Isle of Man TT like John
McGuinness and at the heart of that bond lies his formidable
relationship with the Honda Fireblade, especially during his time with
the HM Plant Honda Racing Team. McGuinness, a 23-times TT winner, is
synonymous with the Fireblade, a bike that's been a stalwart on the
Mountain Course for years. The early Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade he rode
in this painting was equipped with a 998cc inline-four engine, designed to deliver raw
power but with the refinement needed to tackle the grueling 37.73-mile
TT course.
Honda's Fireblade was perfectly suited for McGuinness's smooth,
controlled riding style, with a chassis that provided exceptional
stability at the high speeds vital for the undulating, sections
of the TT mountain circuit. The bike's powerful brakes and nimble handling were critical
for McGuinness as he navigated tight turns like Ballaugh Bridge or the
perilous braking zones like Creg-ny-Baa. His deep understanding of the
Fireblade's balance allowed him to carry incredible speed through some
of the most challenging parts of the course, particularly on the descent
from the Mountain section.
Riding with HM Plant Honda, McGuinness further cemented his TT legacy,
taming the Fireblade to deliver victory after victory and becoming a
modern-day TT legend while continuing Honda's long tradition of success
at the Isle of Man.
