[art #306]. Limited Edition Print by Steve Dunn.

The Ducati 999R, introduced in 2003, is a superbike that pushed the envelope in terms of both design and performance, representing Ducati's commitment to racing excellence. The 999R was the homologation special of the 999 series, built to meet the requirements for World Superbike competition. Powered by a 999cc Testastretta L-twin engine, the 999R produced a staggering 150bhp, making it one of the most powerful Ducatis of its time. The bike featured a host of high-end components, including Öhlins suspension, carbon fiber bodywork, and a slipper clutch, all aimed at optimising performance on the track. The 999R's design, crafted by Pierre Terblanche, was a departure from the iconic 916/996/998 series, featuring a more angular and functional aesthetic. Despite its polarising looks, the 999R was a formidable machine on the racetrack, known for its exceptional handling and stability. The Ducati 999R remains a significant chapter in Ducati's racing history, representing a bold step forward in superbike design and engineering.
