Artwork detail

[art #309]. Limited Edition Print by Steve Dunn.

The Ducati 900 Super Sport, or 900SS, introduced in 1975 is a legendary motorcycle that established Ducati's reputation as a maker of high-performance motorcycles. Powered by an 864cc L-twin engine, the 900SS was a more powerful evolution of the earlier 750SS. The engine featured the same Desmodromic valve system that Ducati had pioneered, which ensured precise valve operation at high RPMs. It produced approximately 80bhp and allowed speeds of over 135mph.

The 900SS retained the race-inspired design of its predecessor, with a distinctive half-fairing, and a solo seat with its trademark rear hump. Its blue and silver colour scheme became synonymous with Ducati during the mid-1970s, and black and gold became the norm during the 1980s. The 900SS was equipped with high-end components, including Brembo brakes, Marzocchi suspension, and a rorty Conti exhaust system providing excellent performance and handling. Revered by enthusiasts, the 900SS is considered one of the most valued Ducatis ever made representing the perfect blend of Italian design, engineering, and racing spirit.
