This colourful painting shows the legendary 900SS on which Mike Hailwood famously won the Formula 1 TT in 1978. After an 11-year
hiatus, Mike returned to the Isle of Man TT and
won the Formula 1 TT on this Ducati 900SS, a feat that cemented both his
legacy and that of Ducati in racing folklore. It
was powered by an L-twin engine, producing around 80bhp,
and it was known for its robust power delivery and reliability, crucial
traits for the gruelling TT course. Afterwards Ducati commemorated Hailwood's
historic victory by producing a limited edition "Mike Hailwood Replica" of the
900SS featuring the same red, white, and green livery as Hailwood's
race bike.
