The BMW R90S, introduced in 1973, is a landmark motorcycle that helped redefine the brand's image and performance standards. Powered by an 898cc air-cooled, flat-twin "boxer" engine, the R90S produced 67 horsepower, capable of propelling the bike to a top speed of around 125 mph. What truly set the R90S apart was its innovative design and styling. It was one of the first production motorcycles to feature a factory-fitted bikini fairing, which not only enhanced its aerodynamics but also gave it a distinctive, sporty look. The bike's striking colour schemes, particularly the iconic "Daytona Orange" and "Smoke Silver," further emphasised its performance-oriented nature. On the track, the R90S proved its mettle by winning the first-ever AMA Superbike Championship in 1976. The BMW R90S remains a beloved classic, celebrated for its combination of style, performance, and the enduring appeal of its boxer engine.
